Font Love & Free Thanksgiving Cards!

I think this font is casual and cute... and one of the best 'handwritten' fonts I have found to date.
I like it so much that I used it on two of the free cards below.
Be careful to use in moderation though, it's one of those that could get old pretty quick. ;)

Inspiration to Creation: Baby Shower Invitations

I N S P I R A T I O N
{Sweet Little Nursery}
. . .
I love this little nursery.
It is classic, beautiful, feminine, dramatic, contemporary, unexpected... I could go on and on.
(There is another half of the nursery that I am going to use as inspiration for baby announcements, so I will wait to show you the goodies in the rest of the room;
but trust me, it is amazing as well.)

The baby girl who will soon occupy this room is due around the first of December,
her initial will be placed in the center of the frame above the crib.
Isn't that genius?!
Her name, as of yet, is undecided... or so the mama tells me. ;)

I created two different invitations, both clearly inspired by the nursery above.

What do you think?

Inside Look: Pretty Crazy Around Here

I feel like I am finally crossing off some of those items on my once never-ending to-do list...
but I seem to be doing a gazillion different projects at once... take a look at the state my office was in yesterday. Disaster. haha.

*Most random things found in disaster office:
- overdue children's library books
- flash cards... working on Drew's alphabet recognition (at this point, terrible at best)
- 2 baby stacking cups
- new yellow purse (love it)
- bedding... you would think this is a guest bedroom or something
(Not to worry, all children were sleeping when the scissors and massive cutter made their appearance. haha.)

bahahahaha. ah.
(I do love the sight of outgoing packages though... that is fun!)
Do you like the coffee mug front and center?oooh, what are those fun little gems on my disaster desk you ask?
Those would be new little Christmas tags. They are pretty cute!
(and should be up in the shop soon... along with Christmas cards!)

Weekend Reads

My sweet baby (i.e. husband) has whisked me away for the weekend to celebrate my birthday (many, many thanks to my sweet brother & sister-in-law for making this possible... LOVE you.) We are spending a couple nights in a beautiful hotel, away from the little ones (THANKS to nana and papa), and away from the stress and pressure of life. It has been a CRAZY couple of months and there are really no words that can accurately describe how thankful I am for such a sweet gift.

{view from our hotel room... breathtaking.}

Here are a few links for your weekend:

Helpful post if you work/create from home like myself.

Free desktop calendar for November (it is currently my own desktop background and it is so cute that even my husband noticed it...)

2011 wedding color trends part 1 & part 2. Are you getting married in 2011? What colors are you finding are most trendy? What colors are you using? I'm curious.

This is super cute and I have been trying to find a reason to use it!

I want one of each design for my little boys. And one for myself too. adorable. {from the writer of Fly Though Our Window}

I think my husband would love for me to make this (because he loves all things Spain, especially the food.)

LOVE this holiday hair-do. I want my hair to look like that... only a blonde version.

And lastly, a sweet and encouraging gift from a sister in Christ. (to listen click here)

birthday girl.

Happy birthday!

Today marks my birth, 27 years ago.
Many thanks to my mom and dad for bringing me into this world.
(...mostly mom though, let's be honest, dad's don't do much during the labor process. ha.)

Most importantly thank You God; what a blessed life You have given me...
I am so very thankful.

. . .

Birthdays make me think about babies being born...
so I am spending a good portion of today finally creating new birth announcements and baby shower invitations.
Maybe you will see them soon.

Chilly Chili Fest Review.

Me with my sweet little one.
{photo by Erica Claxton}

This week seems to be going by just a little toooooo quickly... ah. Anyone else feel that way????

This past weekend we (Aletheia) held the 2nd annual Chilly Chili Fest. As I may have mentioned before, this is a tradition we carried from Virginia where they just held their 8th or 9th Chilly Fest... so fun.

This post is purely fun ... and sort of my way to show off my amazing children and the fun we had this past weekend. hehe.

{photos above by Shay Cochrane}

. . .
And some fun photos of the Chilly Chili Fest.{photo by Erica Claxton}
Of course I have to include something about paper, right?
I made these cute little place cards that designated where people could drop off their food/drink contribution.
There were labels for the chili bar, the drink station, dessert station, plates/cups/napkins...
you get the idea.
It just helped keep things a little more organized... and cute of course.

{photo by Erica Claxton}
The bar of chili.
It is a chili cook off so each person attending gets a bag of 5 beans for voting for their favorite chili... to be dispersed as they wish. There are tasting cups for each pot of chili and the cups are numbered accordingly (this helps you keep track of your favorites), each pot then has a jar in front where you can do your voting.

It is sooo much fun. Seriously. If you don't have a fall tradition you should start this one. :)

Other festivities included bobbing for apples (hilarious), pumpkin carving, and making caramel apples. There was going to be a relay race that I was super excited about that would have included pushing a pumpkin without the use of your hands or feet BUT it got dark too quickly... next year.

And we will end on this gooey goodness...
