Adelee is One (Month!)

We celebrate in this family. We celebrate even the smallest of milestones and the most seemingly of mundane moments. We celebrate because each day and experience truly is a gift.

As a parent it is easy to wish away those sleepless nights and the first few days of sheer confusion when you wonder if this is what the rest of your life will be like. :) However, after losing Aaden, even the difficulty of sleepless nights and unending crying are beautiful... because it means you have a baby in your arms to love and care for. We know first hand just how fragile life can be so we choose to enjoy and celebrate each and every milestone.

So, happy one month baby girl!

p.s. We are trusting that you will 'heart' daddy soon too. I think his beard is just a bit too prickly for you to be able to enjoy all the millions of kisses he smothers you with on a daily basis.

Welcome Baby Adelee!

A little over two weeks ago God blessed our family with an unbelievable gift.

Adelee Elizabeth Proffitt was born at 8:41pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Her entry into the world was amazing and was marked by mommy and daddy laughing, crying and high-fiving... in big moments we tend to get really excited, thus the high-fives.

After months of praying and preparing for her arrival I never anticipated my heart could love another little one as much I love her. She has my heart.

My prayer for her is that God would grab her heart as a little child, that she would never know a day of not loving Jesus, that she would have the sweetest heart and spirit, that she would feel and display genuine compassion for others, that she would love and respect her brothers, that she would adore her daddy and think him her hero, and I pray that her and I will be the best of friends.

In her two short weeks of life I have learned so much about my sweet little gift, Adelee:
• She is a bit dramatic, just like her mommy, daddy and brothers
• But her cry instantly stops when mommy whispers in her ear
• She has the most amazing little pouty lips
• And the sweetest, most cutest nose (that is identical to her brothers)
• And the longest fingers and toes
• She wants to see what's going on already, preferring to be up on my shoulder rather than cradled in my arms
• She is so very loved by her big brothers who ask for her first thing every morning
• And she is so very loved by her daddy who gives her about a million kisses throughout the day

We are enamored with our sweet gift and are praising God for her.

Baby Adelee is on her way!

Dear Adelee,
I get to hold you today and see your sweet face and give you a million kisses... and cry and laugh and praise God for His faithfulness.

I am overwhelmed with so many emotions and thoughts.... and while I have so many things I want to say, no words quite seem to grasp this moment.

I love you baby girl.

love,
mommy

Projects For Your Weekend.

I am still (and probably will forever be) working on this project for baby Adelee's room (DIY Pom Poms.) It has been such a labor of love that if I ever do finish I am making her take it with her to college. :)

I have a few other little projects I want to finish as well, one of them being some type of paper flower mobile that will hang from the net that is centered above her crib. I found some beautiful inspiration you can see below.

Flower Mobile by Pottery Barn Teen

(but in flowers, not butterflies)

I found this sweet tutorial from Bliss! for making tissue paper flowers that I think would work really great. Inexpensive and lightweight, perfect for hanging from the netting.

What are you up to this weekend?

Baby Girl Has A Name.

She has had a name for awhile.
And although her name has not been a secret I have not yet shared it with you.
(probably because I waiting for the perfect photo op as seen in the above photo. :))

Adelee
((ah deh lee))
meaning: noble & happy

Elizabeth
meaning: consecrated to God or worshiper of God

...
We absolutely love her and her sweet name.
Now if the next 10 or so weeks would just pass by quickly so we can kiss her little face!

Pink, Peach & White Baby Shower!

This past weekend a few of my closest friends threw an amazingly beautiful (and so tasty!) baby shower for a very sweet friend of mine. Thank you so much to Abby, Kortni & Megan for making this so special for Shay!

Baby Vera,  I hope you know how loved and prayed for you already are (and just how much I love your mommy!)

I wanted the shower to be beautiful, feminine and soft with lots of pink details.
 Tulle Pom Poms
(I created these using my own simplified version of this tutorial.)

But more than decorations and yummy food we use these special moments (baby & bridal showers alike) to display and teach about Christ's love. We do this in a variety of ways. The first is through these cute little Love Notes. We asked everyone to fill out a 'Love Note' for baby Vera. A prayer or favorite bible verse that Shay could put in Vera's baby book. We want Vera to know just how much she means to us and more importantly how much she is loved by God... even before she was born!
The second way we display Christ's love is through a time of devotion & prayer. I taught on this passage from Deuteronomy 11:18-19. It is a beautiful reminder of the responsibility we have as mothers who are striving to teach their children to love the Lord.

We use prayer cards like this and the guests volunteer to pray for the specific request listed on the card. Feel free to download these for the next shower you throw!

On to the details!

The menu was soups and salads with lots of yummy appetizers and desserts.
The food was unbelievably amazing. Seriously.

 Homemade strawberry cupcakes.
(Recipe from Martha Stewart. of course.)

We served strawberry lemonade out of mason jars made complete with these adorable pink & white paper straws.

For tasty edible favors, our sweet friend Abby made these delightful chocolate covered pretzel sticks in pink, peach and white.

In lieu of games, we decided to get crafty instead! Abby (from Three Little Acorns) created a 'Make a Headband' station for baby Vera.  She made about a million flowers that were later crafted into headbands and clips by the guests at the party. (We saw this cute idea here.)

I hope you enjoyed all the little details!

. . .
Thanks Kortni for helping me capture all the special details.
