Day 9 of Christmas!

RECIPE

• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/4-1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 1/3 cup half and half
• 4 cups whole milk
• Whipped Cream or Mini Marshmallows

1. Stir together sugar, cocoa and salt in medium saucepan; add half and half.
2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil.
3. Simmer 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
4. Add milk; stirring constantly, heat to desired serving temperature. Do Not Boil.
5. Remove cocoa from heat; whisk or beat until frothy. Top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

Day 8 of Christmas!

Ideas

• Thank people in your life who do thankless jobs. A thank you note and a big bag of cookies with a ribbon and tag would easily do the trick.

(Every Thursday night I host a Bible study in my home and this week we wanted to say thank you to my neighbors for never complaining about all the cars inconveniencing them. So we made cookies, bagged them, put a cute little tag on them, added a thank you card and hand delivered them. So sweet!)

• I am sure you can think of a co-worker or two who you may not be super close with but you know enough to know their circumstances are not great and it has been a hard year. Do something nice for them today, show them Jesus' love. Bring them a coffee or special treat or just stop in and say 'I know it's been a hard year, how are you doing?'

• Get your little ones involved. Ask them who they want to show love to. You could make a card or Christmas ornament together or cookies. Something simple just to remind you, your little ones, and the person on the other end of the gift, that this season is not about getting but about sacrificial love.

Day 6 of Christmas

We support and take part in Operation Christmas Child. It was so fun taking Drew shopping to find toys for children who would otherwise have none on Christmas day. Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful organization but their collection week is was the November 14-21... so below are a two other great organizations that collect gifts for children in need.

• Donate through a school or a library that has a gift tree.

• Choose a family in need. There are plenty of families who are struggling to make ends meet, I am sure you can think of someone to bless this Christmas.

• Go through a church. Churches often donate Christmas gifts to children in need as they are typically aware of which families in the community can use the extra help. Call your church to see if they are collecting toys or, if possible, if they can direct you toward a family that you can provide gifts for anonymously.

• Donate to a hospital. Many hospitals collect toys to distribute to sick children, especially around Christmas.
