I want these...

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE decorating?!

This past weekend my husband and I finished up his office. We only spent a mere $30 and that was for an additional bookcase, a must-have when books are literally falling off the existing two shelves. Both of our new spaces look so good and I cannot wait to get my camera back so that you can all see it for yourselves!

So, now all I need (let's be honest... want) to complete my office as well as my husband's newly redecorated/rearranged office:

I would love an old chair to use as my office chair (right now I am using a folding chair... not because I don't have a great office/task chair, but because the folding chair looks better in my new office...) My thought would be to upcycle the old chair, paint it a bright glossy yellow and then reupholster the seat with this fun fabric:

These throw pillows would make a great addition as well.

And then for my husband's office. We used hand-me-down (insert: amazing) curtains from a sweet and generous friend. They are perfect for his office and bring in color which means we didn't have to paint. We rearranged to create a better work/study environment. We added one more bookshelf (books were literally falling off the existing two shelves...). The office is now 98% there. I would love to add an ottoman and a couple of fun, contemporary, masculine lamps (one for his desk and one for the 'reading/studying' area), and one big focal art piece. Any ideas on where to find a Thrice (his favorite band) poster? Looked everywhere and couldn't seem to find anything ....

And while I was browsing online I saw this lamp that I just thought would be perfect in our master bedroom.
Maybe one day. :)

Reads for Your Long Weekend.

A few of my favorite reads from this past week:

Did you see Design*Sponge's Best of Playrooms? Adorable. I specifically LOVE the mini Eames rocker and am positive that my little one would love it to. (Too bad it is just a little out of my price range...)

My new favorite blog? The Brass Petal. Did anyone else become addicted to HGTV's Design Star this season? Well, I did. And I also became addicted to the winner, Emily... anyway, I found her blog this week and spent far too much time reading back through about a gazillion posts.

Looking to do any redecorating? Check out Inspiration for Decoration; all you will need for inspiration and ideas. There is no text on the blog, just images of beautifully decorated spaces. Check it out... keep scrolling until you see the most amazing pantry ever. Yes, please.

If you are a designer trying to get your business off the ground you will be able to relate to this very heartfelt post about the trials that come with such an endeavor. Avie Designs

I'm thinking about designing a wedding stationary suite from this color palette from The Perfect Palette...

Getting married? If you are having an engagement portrait session with your photographer here are some helpful tips about 'How to look smokin’ hot for your shoot!' from the fabulous Shay Cochrane Photography.

Did you know it's September already? Where did the summer go? ah. Oh, Hello Friend designed a beautiful September calendar for your desktop background.

Ok. That's all for now. I hope you have a wonderful extended weekend. What are you Labor Day plans? We are headed to Anna Maria Island. (We have a secret spot... it's amazing.)

{DIY Rock Candy Chandelier}

And another example of turning something ordinary into extraordinary.

Who would have ever thought that pieces of rock candy could be strung on a piece of wire and turned into something so beautiful?

Don't...

... hold your breath.

haha.

I seem to be making lots of future plans and telling them to you, my sweet readers... and none of it seems to be coming to fruition.

My plan was to photograph my office on Monday. It was beautiful outside and that mean glorious sun shining through my window. I got my wonderful and most amazing camera out to start photographing and realized very quickly it was not working. ugh. That made for a VERY sad afternoon.

If you know me at all, you know that camera is with me at all times... attached to my body... kind of like my children. ha.

As of now, my beloved lens is on its way to the service center.

Which means you will get to see my amazing new office space and all other projects, as soon as my beloved camera makes its way back to me. :)

In other news, the back-to-school rush (insert: my husband is the pastor of a collegiate church plant) that I feel every semester is almost past which means all those unfinished projects should be finished soon. At least I am hoping anyway. haha.

The one picture I got before the camera completely malfunctioned... this is what the floor typically looks like: completely covered with toys.

Drew loves that he can play with me while I work now... so much so that he brings every single toy he owns into the office.

I kind of love it though.

People of Mexico.

{we gave this little girl and her sister, above, the little bag of goodies she is holding... she was super shy, but so sweet and beautiful.}

Mexico Inspiration Day 2

Well... I really want to show you my new studio/office space but this Florida rain is causing some lighting issues. So, we will have to postpone that for another day. Maybe tomorrow the sun will be pouring in...

As promised, here are a few more images from my trip to Mexico. I found so much inspiration... I can't wait to put it to use.

I love this. The colors in Mexico are AMAZING.
I actually asked Aaron to stop the car and jumped out so I could take this picture.
I am positive that the people in the car thought I was crazy.

Back in the NEW office.

Hi friends,
I am back from Mexico and we are somewhat recovered. I will be posting a detailed update of the trip on my personal blog later this week.... so look forward to that. :)

Later today I will be introducing you to my new workspace that will also be used as our family's guest bedroom. Until then, here are a few of the fun images from a Mexican market in San Cristobal... (I will be sharing a few every day... I have about a million.)
