Projects for Your Weekend

I found these amazing little DIY projects on pinterest.

The dessert stands are amazing and so wonderfully useful if you play hostess often.

Source unknown (if you know, please tell me!) found here

Reupholster a wing chair on your own?! I'll let you know if I ever get courageous enough to try this on my $15.00 garage find that is roughly slip-covered these days.

I am using these to finish up a project this weekend. Hopefully photos to come.

Working with this too... what could it be?!
Have a great weekend!

Font Love: Blessed Day

I love this sweet font with all it's swoopy little details. I have used it a lot recently and find it to be very beautiful. Look at the K and L and M... those lines are just gorgeous.
{You can download Blessed Day for free here.}
 . . .
One of the projects I used the font for was this newly designed Happy Thanksgiving card for my Fall Collection.  It has a vintage, retro inspired look that I am loving this fall.

What better way to celebrate thankfulness than with Philippians 1:3?
"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."
These lovely little cards are for sale in the shop.

Bar Stools Updated

happy fall friends.

You may remember this post from a little while back. I dug these bar stools out of the neighbor's garbage. I simply sanded them down and gave them a fresh coat of paint that I already had on hand.

They were cute but still looked a little unfinished for a kitchen/dining area. (I think they were designed for outside? Remember, they were free! And they do fold up which is kind of fun. :))

So my sweet friend, who has the BEST ideas suggested I cover them. Um, yes please!
I took a little trip to JoAnn Fabrics and picked up this adorable orange patterned fabric. I took the legs off of the stools and added a layer of foam and then a layer of fabric. Then I staple gunned away. The entire project only cost about $10.00 and took about 4 hours (including sanding and painting.)

What do you think?
....
I purchased the same fabric that I had recently used to do the before & after below.

I received this from a sweet lady at an antique store last November. I was tearfully looking through her store and realized quickly that I would not be able to afford anything there. She politely asked me what I was looking for (I am sure I looked a bit crazy... who cries in an antique store?!) I told her that on this day, 2 years ago my baby boy passed away and I was searching for a way to treasure his things. She instantly found this little box, that no one seems certain of it's past use or purpose, and gave it to me with a tearful smile... it now has a new and perfect purpose; a home for all of Aaden's little things.

Weekend Wardrobe: Dress & Boots

This was my 'Sunday's Best' yesterday. I love boots... even here in hot, sunny Florida.

My weekend was spent working on a new kind of design project. Thanks to my sweet husband who graciously took care of our crazy little ones, I was able to give focused attention to this new project. It is almost complete and I will hopefully be able to show you later this week all the fun I have been up to.

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Weekend Wardrobe: Birthday/Anniversary Party

Yesterday, Aletheia celebrated it's 2 year birthday (anniversary?) It was a great day remembering and being thankful for all that God has done in the past 2 years.

I was reminded of this classic, strapless white dress I own (but have yet to wear) when I was perusing my wardrobe yesterday morning. I am not sure why it has taken me so long to wear it because I do love the simplicity and beauty of the dress... and of course it is white! I am loving lots of neutrals right now and to dress it down for the occasion I paired the dress with a beige vest, shiny beige ballet flats and a few black accessories. I thought it turned out pretty cute (and so did my husband which is all that really matters, right?)

What did you do this weekend?
I hope it was enjoyable and provided lots of inspiration to hit the ground running on this Monday!

Autumn in the Air

There is a crispness in the morning air, even here in sunny Florida
(of course, the crispness is gone by about 9am and doesn't return again until 8pm... but still.)

I have been working away designing a little fall collection and I can't wait to reveal those products to you (hopefully by the end of this week!) Hopefully you are feeling inspired by this beautiful season too. And if not, maybe my little fall inspiration board or even this cute 'Autumnal' post by my friend Sarah Beth will do the trick.

You can view all the sources for the beauty above here on my pinterest board.

Happy Autumn to you!

Weekend Wardrobe: Cocooning

Happy Monday!

We did not even open our doors on Saturday. We call that cocooning around here. We stayed home and relaxed and although I did get a crazy amount of work done (because my oldest was at a sleepover and my little one decided to take 2 very long naps), it was peaceful, stress-less and wonderful. This is the outfit I wore all day. Comfy pants and a tank top. It doesn't get much better than that. What did you do this weekend. I hope it involved loungy pants and snuggling!

And I am obsessing over these sweaters that are on sale at Target right now. I want one in every color.
Have a great day!

Laundry Room Inspiration

I LOVE our home. Really. It is a good thing that I love it so much because we will most likely be in this home for a looong time (until God calls my husband to plant another Aletheia somewhere....)

My only complaint (and it's a super tiny one) is the lack of closet space and the unused space in the enormous laundry room. We bought this house for it's ginormous living areas which are amazing for our family's lifestyle.... but the closets are super tiny and I am reminded of that fact every time I put the boys clothes away in their shared 2 foot closet. It does work out because I am a 'I-hate-clutter-anywhere-I-clean-out-closets-once-a-week' type girl anyway. However, I still very much would love to have a designated linen closet. Right now our master closet triples as Asher's sleeping area (i.e. pack-n-play for naps), our closet and our linen closet as well. So I got to thinking... one of the super advantages of our home is the super size of the laundry room. What about a laundry room makeover  to make use of all of the unused space in there?! I am thinking a couple cabinets and storage shelves would absolutely create that linen closet that I am dying to have.

I'll let you know if I can convince my husband of such a necessity. :)

Today

Today I am balancing this....
fort building in the dining room
oh my goodness... don't you just want to squeeze him?!

with this...
lots of orders being shipped out today
 invitations being assembled
and a seemingly never ending to-do list. bah.

BUT the first will always take priority, which may mean a late night for me. :)
