Go Ahead...

I mentioned in the last post that I have been a busy little business owner, tackling all sorts of odds and ends that really needed tackling last year... or even, the year before that. Nonetheless the endless list is getting shorter and shorter... it is nothing short of a miracle.

I think we can be our own worst enemies when it comes to life, especially for those of us who may be perfectionists. We shy away from anything that may not end with a perfect result. In hindsight I think that my procrastination regarding that endless list was not an insufficient amount of time but rather a fear that if I really put myself out there, really made a genuine effort at this business (stop talking about it and start making it happen...) that I would fail... that no one would be interested in what I had to offer, much less buy my product.

I realized all this after I had spent 4 weeks creating new products, photographing products, updating and listing said products in my shop. So, it was too late to do anything about this new realized fear.

Guess what happened?

I have sold and keep selling beautifully designed stationary.

Yay!

I sold my first wedding invitation samples this week. I have done lots of wedding stationary over the years but none through my online shop, which was one of my goals for last year.

Below is the little package and handwritten note that the bride will receive. The invitation samples were wrapped in a beautiful handmade paper and of course, tied with Ashlee Proffitt Design's signature twine.

I attribute all my learning and growing over the past month to God. I prayed for help and He has given. He is teaching me so much everyday about His perfect desire for my life and He continues to teach me through this business venture. I know... this sounds a little deep for a tiny little sell of an invitation sample... but trust me, this was a loooong time coming. :)

Lesson of the Day: Fear should never be a reason to not try and to give it your all.

  1. you go girl!!! that's so encouraging, and so beautiful as well! I love your "signature twine":) it's those little things that really set you apart and make Ashlee Proffitt Design so awesome! Every single time I want into boutiques and see any kind of stationary, I always say, "I wonder if Ashlee has ever looked into marketing to stores like these?" I know some up here if you decide to branch out into NC;) Love you! Keep going!

  3. You are such an inspiration! I am right in the beginning stages of opening an etsy shop to sell my invitations and paper goods, and have been so so afraid of failure. I love that you give all the glory to God. I pray sincerely that He will continue to bless you x
