Ideas for your Weekend: Go Outside

Take some time this weekend to enjoy this beautiful gift that God has given us.

I find so much inspiration from creation... our God is so creative, the ultimate Creator.

My favorite picture is the last one... the Florida landscape is so romantic... kind of dark and mysterious.

What is your favorite place to get inspiration from? Where can you just turn your mind off and truly relax? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Have a great weekend!

Font Love: Landsdowne

I love this one! I actually try to write like this sometimes... I love how tall it reaches and it's dainty little details. Look at the beautiful curve of the 'J' and the 'P.'

Is it strange that I notice these things? ha.

You can download Landsdowne for free here.

Inside Look: Logo Design

Logo design and I have a very strong love/hate relationship.

I love when the final product is indeed final and perfect and both the client and artist are more than satisfied with the end result.

I hate the process of getting to that point. ah.

Sometimes I feel as though my brain just is not working and making myself be creative in between being a mommy to an infant and an almost three year old is quite the challenge...

Oh well. I am sure I am not alone in this.

So, with all that being said here is an 'Inside Look' at an identity system I am currently working on. I spent the morning sketching the fun drawings in the last image... now that was fun. Really. There is something really wonderful about having tracing paper and a perfect extra fine Pilot pen in hand.

Enjoy.

Round 1 - Getting a feel for the style and look the client is looking for.

Round 2 - Sketching, sketching, more sketching. My hand hurts.

Favorite Finds - Vintage Tin

I was searching for fun artwork that could go outside on our little patio and stumbled upon these amazing finds!

You can find these vintage ceiling tin art from Cottage in the Sun. This one of a kind shop offers 'handmade heart, star & cross wall art from salvaged antique and vintage 1800s to 1900s tin ceiling tiles.'

Love it. (I wouldn't mind having one in every color. :))

And the winner is...

My sweet husband drew the winner for the give away and he drew Heather's name!

Congratulations Heather!

I am thinking this new bride would love a set of thank you notes or monogrammed stationary...

...

And now I need your help!

Hypothetically, if you were going to choose between these two options of flooring which would you pick? The lighter is Cameroon Acacia and the darker is Everglades Mahogany.

Cameroon Acacia against our tile.

Everglades Mahogany against our tile.

OK. I need your opinion asap. THANKS!

Have a happy Saturday!

Ideas for Your Weekend: SPRING.

Spring is here (but in Florida it already feels like summer.)

So the project for your weekend? Springify. ha.

I went to Lowes (thanks to a gift card) and Target (super cute mini silver planters for $1.00) for all my supplies.

I planted new flowers by our front entry way and on our back patio too. I even added new plants in the house. I LOVE live greenery in a home.

(1 - New spring wreath 2 - Newly painted plant stand and plants 3 - Back patio bistro table 4 - New little plants on the patio bistro table)

The back patio jungle.

Inside - I added this 'snake plant'. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but in the end I love it.

And a new centerpiece on my coffee table.

What 'springy' project are you going to do at your house this weekend?

Inside Look: Wedding Invitations

Here is a sneak peek of a really beautiful wedding invitation.

(These have yet to be seen by the bride, groom, or guests for that matter so for all the detailed pictures of the complete assembled invitation suite you will have to wait a few weeks.)

Give-Away.

The weekend is now half over. That means we will wait until next week for the first edition of 'Ideas for Your Weekend.'

In the mean time, you have a chance to win a gift from Ashlee Proffitt Designs. I know, you can hardly contain yourself.

All you need to do is suggest to your Facebook friends that they should become a fan of Ashlee Proffitt Designs (facebook.com/ashleeproffittdesigns). Then, leave me a comment here on my blog that you did so. If you announce this give-away on your facebook or tweet about it, leave a comment about that too, it will earn you an extra chance to win!

Winner (s?) will be announced on Tuesday.

What should the prize be? Do you have a preference? I have some fun ideas, but I would like to know what it is you might want... I am thinking maybe a birth announcement for a new mommy or a birthday invitation for that fun party you want to plan...

I can't wait to hear from you!

Font Love: Modern No. 20

///

///

I love this font for many reasons, but I think the numbers are my favorite. The font has just a touch of whimsy while still being sophisticated and classy.

What's your favorite letter or number?

/// You can find Modern No. 20 here.

fresh start.

Hi friends.

Welcome to
{Inside} Ashlee Proffitt Design (previously known as Serendipity Design.)

Over the past couple months I have been making changes within my business in the attempt to grow as an artist and business woman (yeah right. Let's be honest... I am a terrible business woman... although I am making a daily effort to be better...)

The first change was with the name, logo, and complete identity system. In the coming weeks there will be more changes as I add new (and old) products to my new shop and revamp my website. I will keep you updated as I continue to make improvements.

I wanted an opportunity to write about all the happenings within my budding business as well as a place to share works in progress, inspiration, or just things that I love... and that is what I will do here! (For those of you who don't know me... to get to know me better, to see where I have come from and what has brought me to this point you can read here.)

Here are some fun things you have to look forward to (on a regular basis - imagine that?!):

Mondays {Favorite Finds}
An excuse for me to show you fun things I love (and to promote fellow Etsy sellers)!

Tuesdays {Inside Look}
A weekly update on projects I am currently working on.

Wednesdays {Inspiration to Creation}
What inspires me and how it helps me create.
You will get to see projects as a direct result of real weddings, color palettes, or daily photography
.

Thursdays {Font Love}
One of my passions/hobbies... finding fonts I love.
Now I have a way to share them with you.

Fridays {Give-Aways & Ideas For Your Weekend}
Look forward to free stuff! And fun ideas/projects for your weekend.

I know what you are saying... those of you who know me... "Ashlee, aren't you being a little ambitious???" Yes, of course. Do you expect anything less? ha. These are simply goals for me to work towards and I am excited for this opportunity to continue to grow as an artist.

Thanks for stopping by!
